Hello. My name is Gladys a mother of 3 now grown up children, 1 girl and 2 boys. As a mother I would describe myself as an old fashioned strict disciplinarian who took no nonsense from my children when they were growing up. My late husband worked away much of the time as was the nature of this job, so I was left solely in charge of the domestic discipline arrangements in our household. The Tawse was still in use when the children attended primary school.
Looking back now some of the discipline I administered could have been deemed excessive by modern day standards but it worked and was the norm back then, how attitudes and times have changed!?. My child rearing techniques and the sore bottoms that it produced were very successful in my opinion as all my children left home many years ago and are successful and have families of their own now.
I am interested in conversing only with like minded individuals who experienced this type of upbringing and believe in its merits.
